James Satterwhite & Janelle Penny

Janelle Penny is the Editor-in-Chief of Buildings Magazine. Janelle speaks with us about why her readers, who are mostly building owners, are very concerned about the health and wellness of the people who occupy their buildings. She shares the steps that building owners are taking to entice workers to get back to the office post-COVID-19. We also unpack an important discussion about how owners view modern building codes, and her perspective on the space, which offers little hope these codes will lead architects to isolate building occupants from the outside world.

James Satterwhite is the CEO of Advanced Glazings, creators of Solera® and Solera Wall®, and creators of the BBFH podcast. Jim talks about how the miracle material, aerogel, has allowed translucent glazings to achieve insulation levels that are comparable to opaque walls. We learn how vitally important it is, allowing architects to continue to create large glass facades that bring in lots of natural light, providing those critical views to building occupants while meeting building energy codes.
